Personal:
Sports were a part of Fayzakov's life from a very young age.
His father - an accomplished boxer - and mother - a track and field star - saw the opportunity to start their son's athletic career when a local gym (Spartak Sports Club) opened up in their neighborhood.
Growing up, Fayzakov showed great potential in not only judo, but other sports such as track and field and football for which he was offered scholarships to prestigious universities out of high school.
It was his love of judo, however, that made him choose to concentrate solely on the sport in hopes of someday achieving the pinnacle of success every athlete dreams of -- the Olympic Games.
After graduating from Forest Hills High School with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors in 2007, Fayzakov is currently pursuing his Bachelor's degree in biology / pre med.
